Ahuriri Business Park
In 2007 Tom McKimm and his father Ray stood in the middle of what once had been a busy street in Ahuriri, Napier's historic seafront suburb. They stood out there, on the centre white line, for about 15 minutes and talked about the ‘pros and cons' of shifting their Wellington-based business, Big Save Furniture, to the traffic-free, silent and effectively abandoned, industrial side of the area. Not one car went by. Ahuriri Business Park is now one of the largest mixed-use business parks in New Zealand. It houses a variety of different business operations ranging from retail, storage, childcare and offices. The recent growth in Ahuriri has been dramatic. Over 50 businesses including professional services, retailers, gyms and convenience stores have opened up with the Ahuriri Business Park, employing over 900 people. |

Travel time to the Ahuriri Business Park is very convenient. Napier airport is only 3kms or about 6 minutes driving, Napier CBD is just around the corner and only 3kms from the site. Some staff commute daily from Hastings and Havelock North. The new expressway between the cities has greatly improved commute times with Hastings CBD only 21kms away or 25 minutes driving and Havelock North 25kms away or 28 minutes driving. A bus service runs throughout Hawke's Bay provided by the Hawke's Bay Regional Council. The services operate between the three centres and from Napier CBD to Ahuriri.
